Ya-Chong (Crinum thaianum) is a unique emergent plant native to southern Thailand. When deep-fried in a flavorful curry paste batter, it becomes a signature dish of Phuket cuisine known as “Bua-Thod.” This dish features a mix of edible leaf fritters, often combined with small shrimp, and is typically served with “Nam Chor,” a tangy, sweet, and mildly spicy red dipping sauce.
